How UM Health-West turned imaging access into patient engagement

University of Michigan Health-West serves more than 250,000 patients a year across 30 locations, including a 208-bed teaching hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. It is a nonprofit multispecialty provider, and it decided that the fastest route to a better patient experience ran through the imaging record rather than around it.

What changed

• Patients see the images, not just the report. eUnity image-enables MyChart, so a patient opening their record finds the study alongside the findings.
• Providers work from the same view. Clinicians across specialties open the same study without a second login or a separate workstation.
• Imaging stays available during PACS downtime. When the PACS is unavailable, clinicians keep reading in eUnity rather than waiting for it to come back.
