Care is no longer the work of one department

Clinicians need an accurate, comprehensive view of a patient's history, including all relevant imaging, to build the best care plan possible. The systems they rely on were not built that way.

Most organizations are still structured so that individual departments, radiology, cardiology and wound care among them, have their own imaging and storage systems. Those systems are not typically integrated, so they do not provide a consolidated view of a patient's imaging history.

Consolidating data from every modality, system and department is time-consuming work, especially for large systems spanning multiple facilities and regions. Mergers and acquisitions compound it: data unification becomes an ongoing process rather than a project.
