New horizons: the cloud is reshaping healthcare

Dr. Eliot Siegel is a prominent thought leader in radiology, imaging informatics, and the application of artificial intelligence to medical imaging. This paper collects his view on where cloud imaging is heading and what it asks of the organizations adopting it.

The short version is that the cloud's contribution is not storage. It is aggregation: hosting patient and imaging data together, syncing it automatically, and removing the manual movement of large studies between systems that consumes so much of an imaging team's day.

The sections that follow cover the drivers, what centering data around the patient actually requires, and why he expects all medical images to end up in the electronic health record.
